BusinessCom BV has announced its plans to begin reporting under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) this year. The CSRD is a key pillar of the European Green Deal and requires companies to be transparent about their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impacts. Although the directive is not yet mandatory for all businesses, BusinessCom is taking the lead.
In its reporting, BusinessCom will not only provide accountability but also outline clear goals and policies to reduce CO2 emissions, contributing to the European Union’s Green Deal initiative. The company is currently exploring various options to achieve this. One major step in this direction is the plan to construct a fully energy-neutral office building at its current location in Veghel.
CSRD themes BusinessCom
Together with its stakeholders, BusinessCom has identified the key CSRD themes: in addition to focusing on the environment, the company will report on social topics, such as employee well-being, and governance issues, including transparency and ethical practices. The aim is to make a positive impact in all these areas.
Pieter van Eldonk, Director of BusinessCom, emphasized the importance of this move:
“Not many companies are working on CSRD yet, but we feel it is our duty to society, our employees, and our partners to take this step now, even though CSRD compliance is not yet mandatory. We’ve conducted the initial analyses, and in the coming months, we will explore concrete measures to implement. We hope to contribute to a more sustainable world. In 2024, we started with a test year, and now we’re optimizing the process and working with accountants to ensure that by 2026, we can report on the year 2025 as required for SMEs.”
With its initial analyses completed, BusinessCom is embarking on an ambitious journey. The company hopes not only to make its operations more sustainable but also to serve as an example for other businesses in its sector and region.
