Mitel has announced the general availability of MiVoice Business 10.5. This release includes Modern Authentication for SMTP, PMS Direct Charge Billing for the hospitality sector, and numerous improvements in product functionality and availability. Additionally, Mitel Administration for MiVoice Business introduces significant user provisioning enhancements in its Q3 2025 release.
Key New Features
The release builds on Mitel MiVoice Business 10.4 and includes the following new functionalities:
- MiNet 3.1 – video doorbell display on Mitel 6940w
- Single Line Licensing for Mitel 6910, 6915, and 6970
- Longer SIP Peer passwords
In addition to these new features, release 10.5 also contains bug fixes and security updates.
Detailed Overview of Features and Benefits
Modern Authentication for SMTP
Microsoft had previously announced that support for basic SMTP AUTH connections to Microsoft 365/Exchange Online would end in September 2025, as part of the transition to more secure, modern authentication mechanisms. This deadline was recently moved to April 2026. MiVoice Business 10.5 now offers a new option for modern authentication, available for both Office 365 and Google apps.
PMS Direct Charge Billing
For MiVoice Business systems using the Hilton or FIAS PMS protocol, a new option has been added to send simple billing information (Sales Outlet and total amount) to the PMS. This allows phone calls to be directly charged to the guest room. The amount is calculated based on:
- Digits Dialed Prefix
- Connection Charge – fixed amount per call
- Duration Multiplier – per-minute multiplier for call duration, charged per second
- Sales Outlet
Hilton Maid Status Adjustments
The original specification used during the design of the Hilton PMS contained mixed-up room maid status codes. This resulted in many Hilton deployments requiring intervention from Hilton to adjust the codes on their end. With MiVoice Business 10.5, these codes are aligned with the latest version of the specification. Hilton sites running older releases must contact Hilton PMS support when upgrading to version 10.5 or higher to switch the maid status codes back.
Longer SIP Peer Passwords
Some carriers require longer passwords. The password length for SIP Peer Profiles has been extended from 26 to 48 characters.
MiNet 3.1 Support
MiNet 3.1 is bundled with MiVoice Business 10.5 and provides support for the 6940w Doorbell camera, which is configured via URL Line Programmable Keys. MiNet 3.1 also supports the 6907 phone.
Single Line Licensing Extended
The use of Single Line licenses, previously only available for analog phones or single line SIP phones, was extended to the 6905 and 6907 several releases ago. With MiVoice Business 10.5, this capability is also extended to the 6910, 6915, and 6970. This enables the use of more cost-effective licenses in situations where high-end phones are desired (for example, a color display with the 6915), but only single line licensing is required.
SMB Controller Busy Tone Detection
Support has been added for MiVoice Business on the SMB Controller with FXO LS trunks to use a Busy Tone as an indicator for CLEAR/disconnect. This feature was already supported on the EX Controller and is now also available for MiVoice Business on the SMB Controller.
Mitel Administration for MiVoice Business
Mitel Administration is a cloud-based management framework for Partner Service Admins and Customer IT Admins that simplifies day-to-day user management. Alongside MiVoice Business 10.5, the Mitel Administration portal introduces the following enhancements:
Multi-Node MiVoice Business (cluster) Deployments
The Mitel Admin portal (and other CloudLink-based applications) can now be deployed with customers served by multiple MiVoice Business systems.
MiVoice Business System Group Management
Create and manage system groups directly from the portal.
Mitel CX Integrated Softphone Provisioning
This extends the previously released functionality to provision employees as agents and assign them as voice or multimedia agents, with provisioning in both MiVoice Business and Mitel CX.
Contact Center Group and Queue Provisioning
As a further addition to contact center agent provisioning, the Mitel Admin portal can now directly configure skill sets and queues and provision them in both MiVoice Business and Mitel CX.
Admin Delegation by Location
With the Mitel Admin portal, partners and customers can set up “sub admins,” where a sub admin can be assigned to manage only users at specific locations.
User Export
Partners and customers can export a complete list of users, including characteristics of those users and all assigned services. The report can be scheduled and exported in various formats.
